American Toby Jug Museum 

William Penn 3/4 body toby jug in a brown colorway produced by Lenox China of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, circa 1935. William Penn (1644 - 1718) was an English writer and religious thinker belonging to the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), and founder of the Province of Pennsylvania, a North American colony of England. He was an early advocate of democracy and religious freedom, notable for his good relations and successful treaties with the Lenape Native Americans. Designed by W. Gallimore in 1930, this jug celebrates the signing of the William Penn Treaty with the Leni Lenape tribe of the Delaware Indians 250 years earlier. The Leni Lenape Indian chief forms the handle of the jug.
