Watchman character jug produced by Shaw and Copestake of Longton, England, circa 1965 using its SylvaC tradename. A Watchman was hired to guard a village or building to deter thieves while also ensuring the safety of the people, buildings, stables, horses, and carriages. A large key forms the handle of the jug.
