Trumpeter large size toby jug produced by Shorter & Son of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 1960. A trumpeter is an expert trumpet player. In service to the armed forces the trumpeter is the one that gives signals with a trumpet both at base and in the field. A trumpet forms the handle of the jug. This is the largest of two known sizes with the smaller size standing 4 3/4" tall.
