Trout toby jug lemonade - Royal Bayreuth circa 1920

Trout lemonade pitcher toby jug produced by Royal Tettau Porcelain Factory of Bavaria, Germany, circa 1920 using its Royal Bayreuth tradename. Trout is a generic common name for numerous species of carnivorous freshwater ray-finned fishes belonging to the genera Oncorhynchus, Salmo and Salvelinus. Trout are closely related to salmon and have similar migratory life cycles. Most trout spend their entire lives exclusively in freshwater lakes, rivers and wetlands and migrate upstream to spawn in the shallow gravel beds of smaller headwater creeks. The trout's tail forms the handle of the jug. There are three known sizes of the trout toby jug with this being the largest. The others are the milk pitcher standing 5 1/4" tall and the creamer at 4 1/2" tall.
