Top O' The Mornin' After toby jug - Mugeens circa 2000

Top O' The Mornin' After toby jug produced by Mugeens of England circa 2000. Top O' The Mornin' After is a leprechaun toby jug with this saying on his hat. A leprechaun is a diminutive supernatural being in Irish folklore, classed by some as a type of solitary fairy. They are usually depicted as little bearded men, wearing a green coat and hat, who partake in mischief. In more recent times, they have been depicted as shoemakers who have a hidden pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. "Top o' the mornin' to ya" is a well-known traditional Irish greeting. Adding the word "after" suggests that this poor leprechaun, on one knee and with his left hand to his mouth, is experiencing a serious hangover from a long night of drinking green ale.
