Toby Gillette character jug - Royal Doulton 1984

Toby Gillette character jug designed by Eric Griffiths and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in a 1984 limited edition of 3. Toby Gillette (1973- ) was an eleven-year-old boy who on March 10, 1984, appeared on the British television show, "Jim’ll Fix It", and asked the host, Jimmy Savile, to have a character jug made in his likeness. The show’s premise was that Jimmy would fix people’s problems or make dreams come true as best as possible. The producers of the show made arrangements with Royal Doulton to fulfill Toby’s request, and, after several visits to the factory where Toby assisted in various processes whereby his jug was made, the jug was presented to Toby on Jimmy’s show.
