The Werewolf face pot - Kevin Francis circa 2006

The Werewolf face pot produced by Kevin Francis Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 2006. In folklore, a werewolf is an individual who can shape-shift into a wolf, either purposely or after being placed under a curse or affliction, with the transformations occurring on the night of a full moon. The werewolf is a widespread concept in European folklore, existing in many variants, which are related by a common development of a Christian interpretation of underlying European folklore developed during the medieval period. From the early modern period, werewolf beliefs also spread to the New World with colonialism. This werewolf's face pot quote, "A gentleman is simply a patient wolf", is often attributed to Lana Turner, an American actress from the mid-20th century. It suggests that a gentleman, like a wolf, is strong and assertive, but is able to control his impulses and act with restraint and patience. It implies that a true gentleman is both powerful and self-controlled.
