The Shaman face pot - Kevin Francis circa 2003

The Shaman face pot produced by Kevin Francis Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 2003. A shaman has access to, and influence in, the world of good and evil spirits, especially among some peoples of northern Asia and North America. Typically such people enter a trance state during a ritual, and practice divination and healing. Shamanism is a religious practice that involves a shaman interacting with the spirit world through altered states of consciousness, such as trance. The goal of this is usually to direct spirits or spiritual energies into the physical world for the purpose of healing, divination, or to aid human beings in some other way. This shaman's face pot quote, "We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our children", is a Native American proverb.
