The Pershore Miller toby jug modeled by Ray Noble and produced by Kevin Francis Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, in a 1991 limited edition of 1,500. A miller is a person who operates a mill, which is a machine to grind a grain to make flour. Milling is among the oldest of human occupations. Milling existed in hunter-gatherer communities, and later millers were important to the development of agriculture. This miller serves to community of Pershore, a market town and civil parish in the Wychavon district in Worcestershire, England, on the banks of the River Avon. The town is best known for Pershore Abbey. The miller's wife is climbing out of a grain sack, forming the handle of the jug.
