The Fireman character jug - Royal Doulton 1988

The Fireman character jug modeled by Stanley J. Taylor and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in a 1988 limited edition of 5,000 commissioned by Lawleys By Post. Every small boy looks with envy upon the fireman's occupation, fighting fires and making daring rescues. Racing through the streets in their bright scarlet and black engine, siren clanging to alert pedestrians and traffic alike to their speedy approach, how efficiently the firemen arrive at the scene of the blaze is often a matter of life and death. However, not all calls to the fire brigade are so dire; occasionally a fireman's services may be needed to rescue an adventurous kitten stuck in a tree! The fireman's uniform is highly distinctive, such as this one of the London fire brigade. An axe and a fire hose form the handle of this jug.
