The Drunken Parson character jug Guild - Tony Wood Studio 1991

The Drunken Parson character jug produced by Tony Wood of Fenton, England, in 1991 in a limited edition for Scottish Direct for the Guild of Wood Pottery Collectors. The Drunken Parson toby jug is seated and looking to his right in a stupor with a leering expression, his tricorn hat askew on his head. He is attempting to pour wine from the jug in his right hand into the wine glass in his left. A parson is an ordained Christian person responsible for a small area, typically a parish. The term was formerly often used for some Anglican clergy and, more rarely, for ordained ministers in some other churches. This is the character jug interpretation of the Drunken Parson toby jug.
