The Caroler character jug colorway - Royal Doulton 1995

The Caroler character jug in a red plume colorway modeled by Martyn C. R. Alcock and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in 1995. A caroler is a singer of festive traditional songs performed at Christmas. Each year children and adults around the world gather in groups to wade through thick snowfall singing heartwarming songs of the season as they go from home to home. The word carol comes from the French dance called a Carole and was also used for an English pagan song-dance performed to celebrate the shortest days of winter. Sheet music and a lantern form the handle of the jug.
