Tantrica face pot - Kevin Francis circa 2002

Tantrica face pot produced by Kevin Francis Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 2002. The American buffalo and the European bison are the largest surviving terrestrial animals in North America and Europe. They are broad and muscular with shaggy coats of long hair. Buffalo are nomadic grazers and travel in herds. The bulls leave the herds of females at two or three years of age, and join a herd of males, which are generally smaller than female herds. The white buffalo is a sacred sign in Lakota and other Plains Indians religions. Legend says that nineteen generations ago the beautiful spirit White Buffalo Calf Woman brought the Sacred C'anupa, or sacred pipe, to the People. She taught the People the Seven Sacred Rites and how to walk on Mother Earth in a sacred manner.
As she left, she turned into a young beautiful white buffalo and then walked over the hill and out of sight.
