Snowman Holding Present toby jug - Fitz and Floyd 1995

Snowman Holding Present toby jug produced by Fitz and Floyd of Medford, Oregon, in 1995. A snowman is a man-like figure constructed from balls of compacted snow and popularly connected with Christmas. There are countless styles of snowmen across different cultures, but all of them follow the same basic principles. In the United Kingdom snowmen commonly are built with two balls of snow, whereas in the United States the three-ball method is much more popular. Commonly twigs are used for arms, pieces of charcoal for facial features and a bucket as a hat. The most famous snowman of all is Frosty the Snowman. A novelty song, "Frosty the Snowman", was recorded by Gene Autrey in 1950. Frosty comes from Jack Frost, the personification of winter weather or frost. Jack Frost is thought to have originated in Scandinavia, where he was Jokul Frosti, the son of Kari, the Norge god of the wind. The pink ribbon from his hat forms the handle of the jug.
