Simon the Cellarer character jug tiny - Royal Doulton 1994

Simon the Cellarer tiny character jug modeled by William K. Harper and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in a 1994 limited edition of 2,500. Possessing the keys to the wine cellar, this Elizabethan fellow is someone worth befriending! Immortalized in a popular nineteenth century drinking song by W. H. Bellamy, Simon, a wine-taster of high order and much capacity, was fortunate to have in his cellar Malmsey, Malvoisie, Cyprus and other wines. Perhaps some friendly persuasion might induce him to share the secrets of his pleasurable trade! A bunch of keys forms the handle of the jug.
