Shogun character jug - Shafford 1980

Shogun character jug produced by Shafford in Japan 1980. In Japanese history, a shogun is a military ruler. The title was first used during the Heian period, when it was occasionally bestowed on a general after a successful campaign. The title of shogun ultimately came from the emperor. This Shogun's samurai sword forms the handle of the jug.
