Royal Governor's Cook prototype character jug designed by Robert I. Tabbenor and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in 1995 and proposed for the Characters from Williamsburg Collection. The Royal Governor's Cook was a highly prestigious position held by only the most skilled
and experienced chef in the entire 18th century Williamsburg, Virginia, region. Named
head cook to the Williamsburg Governor, the cook's sole purpose was to create, prepare
and serve delicious meals to the Governor and his guests on a daily basis. A spoon, mixing bowl and rolling pin form the handle of the jug.
