Rooster toby jug lemonade white/red - Royal Bayreuth circa 1920

Rooster lemonade pitcher toby jug in a white and red colorway produced by Royal Tettau Porcelain Factory of Bavaria, Germany, circa 1920 using its Royal Bayreuth tradename. A rooster is an adult male chicken, which is a domesticated junglefowl species. People now keep chickens primarily as a source of food and as pets. Traditionally they were also bred for cockfighting, which is still practiced in some places. The rooster's long tail feathers form the handle of the jug. This is the largest of three known sizes of Rooster jugs with the medium size milk pitcher standing 4 3/4" tall and the small creamer 4 1/4" tall.
