Rooster toby jug large - Saint-Clement circa 1905

Rooster large majolica toby jug produced by Saint-Clement of France circa 1905. A national emblem of France, the rooster decorated French flags during the Revolution. There are two styles of Rooster pitcher, this one has a small hole on the bottom of the beak for pouring absinthe. The rooster's plumage forms the handle of the pitcher.
