Rooster majolica character jug produced by Sarreguemines for Lorraine, France, circa1910, model number 5151. A national emblem of France, the rooster decorated French flags during the Revolution. Note that the Rooster's comb forms the handle of the jug. This is one of the few Sarreguemines' jugs where the handle is a part of the design as well as serving a functional purpose.
