Ronnie Barker character jug - Royal Doulton 1998

Ronnie Barker character jug modeled by David B. Biggs and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in a 1998 limited edition of 5,000 commissioned by Lawleys By Post. Ronnie Barker's (1929-2005) first job in the performing arts was as an Assistant Stage Manager with the Manchester Repertory Company. However, a career on stage beckoned. In 1956, he landed his first radio appearance and two years later appeared in Frankie Vaughan's first film, "Wonderful Things!", followed by "The Navy Lark" and "The Seven Faces of Jim". In 1966, when working as a sketch writer and performer on "The Frost Report", Barker first met his future comedy partner, Ronnie Corbett. In 1971, the pair signed contracts with the BBC to record a series of shows called "The Two Ronnies". As meticulous as he was talented, Ronnie Barker made comedy look effortless. Barker retired in 1986 but the duo returned for a special tribute in 1999. Ronnie Barker will always be remembered as one of a two-man comedy team who together became two of Britain's best-loved comedians. One of their trademarks were the black spectacles each man wore. A page of a script with "and it's goodnight from him" form the handle of this jug.
