Reni prototype character jug - Peggy Davies Ceramics circa 1995

Reni prototype character jug hand painted by Victoria Bourne and produced by Peggy Davies Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 1995 for artist Damien Hirst. Alan John "Reni" Wren (1964- ) is an English rock drummer and member of The Stone Roses. His laid-back style of complex, off-beat rhythms was influential in bringing about the blend of indie and dance music which formed much of the Madchester sound centered on Manchester. He is considered by many musicians, producers, and journalists to be the best drummer of his generation. During The Stone Roses, he could be easily identified by the now-iconic bucket hat. Following his departure from the band in 1995, he fronted The Rub as singer and guitarist from 1998 to 2001. A truncheon forms the handle of the jug.
