Queen Victoria toby jug red - Rorstrand circa 1900

Queen Victoria majolica 3/4 body toby jug produced in a red colorway by Rorstrand of Sweden circa 1900. Married to Crown Prince Gustaf of Sweden in 1881, Victoria of Baden (1862-1930) became Queen Victoria of Sweden in 1907 upon the death of her father-in-law, King Oscar II, and the ascension of her husband to the throne. Known as the Vasa Princess because of her ancestry, she was a popular queen who was politically active as a conservative during the development of the Swedish democracy. Note the color swapping between the green and red colorways of this jug.
