Prince Charles face pot produced by Kevin Francis Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 2002. Charles III, born Charles Philip Arthur George (1948- ) is King of the United Kingdom and the 14 other Commonwealth realms. As prince, he was the longest-serving heir apparent and Prince of Wales. At the age of 73, he became the oldest person to accede to the British throne upon the death of his mother, Elizabeth II, in September of 2022. Charles' face pot quote, "Monstrous Carbuncle", comes from a 1984 speech where he called a proposed extension to London's National Gallery at Trafalgar Square a monstrous carbuncle: "What is proposed is like a monstrous carbuncle on the face of a much-loved and elegant friend."
