Premier Joseph Stalin toby jug - Bairstow Manor Pottery 2015

Premier Joseph Stalin toby jug modeled by Ray Noble and produced by Bairstow Manor Pottery of Hanley, England, in a 2015 limited edition of 100 commissioned by the American Toby Jug Museum. Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin (1878-1953) was a Soviet revolutionary and politician who was the leader of the Soviet Union from 1924 until his death in 1953. He held power as General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1922-1952) and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union (1941-1953). Initially governing the country as part of a collective leadership, he consolidated power to become a dictator by the 1930s. Ideologically adhering to the Leninist interpretation of Marxism, he formalized these ideas as Marxism-Leninism, while his own policies are called Stalinism. A Russian bear forms the handle of the jug. This World War II Allied Leaders Collection was made in the style of the World War I Allied Leaders Collection produced by A. J. Wilkinson circa 1920.
