Polin majolica toby jug produced in the Prestige finish by Desvres circa 1915 model number 329. Pierre-Paul Marsales (1863-1927) was a French actor comic and singer who used the stage name Polin. He was most famous for spending countless hours entertaining the French troops during World War I providing a few hours of entertainment for them and raising their spirits. The Prestige finish included hand painted colors and touches that made the piece more of a showpiece. This jug is rarer and slightly smaller than the standard production jug.
