Pirate Head character jug produced by Shorter & Son of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 1965. A pirate is a buccaneer of piratical adventurers who raided Spanish colonies and ships along the American coast in the second half of the 17th century. After months at sea, this pirate is relaxing at a pub along the coast. A cockatoo forms the handle of this jug.
