Peter I of Serbia majolica character jug produced by Sarreguemines of Lorraine, France, circa 1905, model number 4734. Peter I of Serbia (1844-1921) reigned as the last King of Serbia from 1903 until 1918. On December 1, 1918, he became King of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, and he held that title until his death three years later. Since he was the king of Serbia during a period of great Serbian military success, he was remembered by the Serbian people as King Peter the Liberator and also as the Old King. This jug is very rare.
