Penguin toby jug lemonade - Royal Bayreuth circa 1920

Penguin lemonade pitcher toby jug produced by Royal Tettau Porcelain Factory of Bavaria, Germany, circa 1920 using its Royal Bayreuth tradename. Penguins are a group of aquatic flightless birds from the order Sphenisciformes. They live almost exclusively in the Southern Hemisphere. Highly adapted for life in the ocean water, penguins have counter shaded dark and white plumage and flippers for swimming. Most penguins feed on krill, fish, squid and other forms of sea life which they catch with their bills and swallow whole while swimming. A penguin has a spiny tongue and powerful jaws to grip slippery prey. They spend about half of their lives on land and the other half in the sea. This is the largest of three known sizes of Penguin jugs with the milk pitcher standing 5 3/4" tall and the creamer 4 3/4" tall.
