Peace Toby jug - Ault Potteries 1919

Peace Toby jug in majolica finish as a remodeled version of the Tit Bits Toby. It was produced to celebrate the end of World War I, proclaiming "Peace 1919" on the front of Toby's newspaper. Around the front of the base it reads "1914 Great War 1918." The top of the jug was remodeled and closed off to transform the jug into a liquor container complete with a cork on a metal chain. The cork and chain pictured here are modern replicas. The jug is impressed "Ault England 9" on the bottom and few jugs are known to exist.
