Ordinary Toby jug in decorative green design produced by Copeland Spode circa 1910 model number T 609. The Imperial Ordinary Toby features a seated common man of the time wearing 18th century clothing and a tricorn hat. He holds a jug of his favorite ale in his left hand resting it on his knee, and balancing it with his right hand. In the factory notes, Copeland Spode referred to these highly decorated toby jugs as Imperial Toby jugs. This one with beautiful floral images on one side and a peacock on the other, also sprigs of flowers around the hat and inside the jug. Toby's Copeland late Spode mark was used from 1891 into the 20th century.
