Nellie face pot grey - Kevin Francis circa 2001

Nellie face pot in a gray colorway produced by Kevin Francis Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 2001. Nellie the Elephant is among the largest existing land animals. Distinctive features of elephants include a long proboscis called a trunk, tusks, large ear flaps, pillar-like legs, and tough but sensitive skin. The trunk is used for breathing and is prehensile, bringing food and water to the mouth, and grasping objects. Tusks, which are derived from the incisor teeth, serve both as weapons and as tools for moving objects and digging. The large ear flaps assist in maintaining a constant body temperature as well as in communication. Nellie's face pot quote, "I will never forget you", is a reference to the old adage that an elephant never forgets.
