Nellie face pot in a black colorway produced by Kevin Francis Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, in a 2003 limited edition for the Face Pot Team Tour. Nellie the Elephant is among the largest existing land animals. Distinctive features of elephants include a long proboscis called a trunk, tusks, large ear flaps, pillar-like legs, and tough but sensitive skin. The trunk is used for breathing and is prehensile, bringing food and water to the mouth, and grasping objects. Tusks, which are derived from the incisor teeth, serve both as weapons and as tools for moving objects and digging. The large ear flaps assist in maintaining a constant body temperature as well as in communication. Nellie's face pot quote, "Not on your Nellie!", is a derivation of the saying "not on your life", an emphatic form of no. "Not On Your Nellie" is also a British sitcom that ran from 1974 until 1975.
