Napoleon Bonaparte majolica character jug produced by Desvres circa 1890 model number 766. Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) was the Emperor of France from 1804 to 1814 and again in 1815. He led France in the Napoleonic Wars seizing control of most of Europe before being defeated at the Battle of Waterloo and exiled. The blue-green jacket colorway was a special issue in the 1930s and is very rare. There is an even more rare dark blue colorway.
