Napoleon Bonaparte faience character jug produced by Desvres circa 1880. Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) was the Emperor of France from 1804 to 1814 and again in 1815. He led France in the Napoleonic Wars seizing control of most of Europe before being defeated at the Battle of Waterloo and exiled. He is marked with the initials HL.
