Monkey toby jug - Vierzon circa 1910

Monkey majolica toby jug produced by Vierzon of Vierzon, France, circa 1910. This seated monkey is sitting on a branch high in a tree. He is watching the forest around him for approaching predators. His tail curls up to form the handle of the jug. This pitcher is known in two sizes, this one being the larger and the other 6 1/2" tall, and multiple colorways. The monkey was designed by F. Perrot.
