Monk toby jug Brandy - Angouleme Pottery circa 1920

Monk toby jug designed by Alfred Renoleau and produced at Angouleme Pottery of Angouleme, France, circa 1920. Dressed in his formal habit, this pious Monk is an advertising pitcher for Bisquit's Brandy. On the front of his apron it reads, "Bisquit's Brandy", and at the bottom of his long white apron is written, "Bisquit, Dubouche & Co. Jarnac-Cognac France". Note the decoration applied to the handle.
