Miss Nostrum The Nurse toby jug - Royal Doulton 1983 - 1991

Miss Nostrum The Nurse 3/4 body toby jug designed by William K. Harper and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, from 1983 to 1991. Beryl Nostrum, hardworking and cheerful while thumping-up pillows of her patients, makes them laugh with her stories of her beaus. She is a jolly lady with rosy cheeks and kind eyes and efficiently attentive in her duties. She wears a blue uniform and a white apron with a nurse's watch pinned on. In her hands she carries a kidney shaped bowl and a large syringe with which to administer unwelcome jabs. Beryl has an excellent contralto voice and sings in the Doultonville Choral Society, which has a long tradition, and regularly entertains in the Victoria Hall. This is one of twenty-five Doultonville toby jugs.
