Mine Host character jug - Royal Doulton 1958-1982

Mine Host character jug modeled by Max Henk and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, between 1958-1982. Mine Host, the patron saint of the local hostelry, is a spirited character right out of Old England, welcoming and of good cheer. The crooked grin and glazed eyes affirm that for every pint he pulls, another one is tucked away in his ample belly. However, he always drinks with good cheer and remains forever the most jovial and hospitable of hosts, the kind epitomized in old English folksongs. An evergreen bough and barrel form the handle of this jug. The Mine Host character jug was made in three sizes with this being the largest along with small (D6470) and miniature (D6513) sizes.
