Mike Mineral The Miner toby jug - Royal Doulton 1986 - 1991

Mike Mineral The Miner 3/4 body toby jug designed by William K. Harper and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, from 1986 to 1991. Mike works deep in the bowels of the earth excavating the extensive coal deposits beneath Ravensdale to the north of Doultonville. His face is a study of concentration as he examines the coalface for the optimum location to place the next explosive charge. Mike's father, John, and grandfather, Herbert, have worked in the mines and have tales to tell of disasters and famous rescues. Mike is a leader of the No. 2 Rescue Team. In his spare time, he is devoted to the Doultonville Caving Club's exploration of the extensive cave systems in the limestone hills not far from the city, where his mining skills are of great value when the cavers get into trouble with floods and rock falls. This is one of twenty-five Doultonville toby jugs.
