Michael Doulton character jug - Royal Doulton 1988

Michael Doulton character jug modeled by William K. Harper and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in a 1988 limited edition of 9,500 for Treasure Chest events. Michael Doulton (1943- ) is a fifth-generation descendant of John Doulton, the founder of the Royal Doulton Company in 1815. Michael is the only Doulton family member to remain active in the company. For many years he has acted as the company's ambassador, touring and participating in special events worldwide. Away from home ten months of the year, he typically travels 300,000 miles per year, making appearances in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the Caribbean. His in-store appearances have given him the opportunity of meeting thousands of collectors and signing just as many Doulton figures and character jugs. In 1980 he was appointed Honorary President of the Royal Doulton International Collectors Club. A flag with the Royal Doulton logo forms the handle of this jug.
