Lord Rodney Soldier toby jug produced by Jacob Marsh of Burslem, England, circa 1805. Admiral George Brydges Rodney (1718-1792) was a British naval officer. He is best known for his commands in the American War of Independence particularly his victory over the French at the Battle of the Saintes in 1782. Lord Rodney is drawing his saber from its scabbard with his right hand. A mug of ale sits on the ground by his left foot. This jug is considered part of the Midshipmite Group of toby jugs.
