Lord Nelson toby jug - Bairstow Manor Pottery circa 1995

Lord Nelson toby jug produced by Bairstow Manor Pottery of Hanley, England, circa 1995. Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) was a British flag officer in the Royal Navy. His inspirational leadership and grasp of strategy and unconventional tactics brought about a number of decisive British naval victories during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest naval commanders in history. Made in a style similar to the Hearty Good Fellow, the Lord Nelson toby jug depicts Nelson leaning against a canon and holding an eye glass in his left hand, with a branch from the tree stump forming the handle of the jug. Using William Kent's original molds, this Lord Nelson toby jug is a reproduction of the William Kent Lord Nelson toby jug from the early 1900s.
