Long Face Toby jug - Pearlware circa 1780

Long Face Toby jug made in Pearlware finish circa 1780. The Long Face Toby is an Ordinary Toby with a longer more oval face and typically his right hand raising a cup to his lips for a drink of ale. The Pearlware finish refers to the final clear glazing that contained cobalt and gave a slight blue coloring to glaze that tended to pool between fingers and in the creases in the face.
