Lady Golfer toby jug produced by W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik of Bavaria, Germany, circa 1955. The origins of the game of golf are typically associated with Scotland where golf has been played for over five hundred years and is the national game The Oxford English Dictionary describes golf as the game "in which small hard balls are struck with clubs having wooden or metal heads into a series of holes on smooth greens at varying distances apart and separated by fairways, rough ground, hazards, etc., the object to hole the ball in the fewest possible strokes." The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, Scotland, is the international shrine of golf. Golf has spread throughout the world and has become one of the most popular pastimes as well as a professional sport with a large following and large purses. This is a pair with the Golfer toby jug.
