King of Hearts toby jug - Copeland Spode circa 1910

King of Hearts toby jug produced by Copeland Spode circa 1910, model number 9700. Originally the King of Hearts was designed after Charlemagne (747-814), King of France and the first Holy Roman Emperor. This is a wonderful, well modeled jug. It must not have been a particularly good seller because no other known Kings or Queens were made.
