Judy  toby jug stoneware- Lea Brook Pottery 1915

Judy salt glazed stoneware toby jug produced by Lea Brook Pottery of Wednesbury, England in 1915. From the popular English puppet show Punch and Judy Judy is the wife of Punch. She asks Punch for help with their baby and generally tries to keep him out of trouble. The jug is inscribed by hand on the bottom "Made at Lea Brook Pottery, Wednesbury, by a Belgian Refugee, 1915." The initials AVM are incised on the left side at the bottom of the jug.
