John toby jug - Bairstow Manor Pottery circa 2015

John 3/4 body toby jug produced by Bairstow Manor Pottery of Hanley, England, circa 2015 in a limited edition of 1,963. John Winston Lennon (1940-1980) was an English singer, songwriter, musician and peace activist who achieved worldwide fame as founder, co-songwriter, co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the Beatles. Lennon's work was characterized by the rebellious nature and acerbic wit of his music, writing and drawings, on film, and in interviews. His songwriting partnership with Paul McCartney remains the most successful in history. Following a five-year hiatus, Lennon returned to music in 1980 with the album Double Fantasy. He was murdered by a Beatles fan, Mark David Chapman, three weeks after the album's release. This jug is from the Beatles' 1963 Fab Four era and depicts John playing his guitar. Note the pair of eighth notes that form the handle of the jug. The jug was modeled by Ray Noble.
