John Bull large majolica toby jug in an all over pink colorway produced by Thomas Forester & Sons of Longton, England, circa 1906. Created by Dr. John Arbuthnot in 1712, John Bull is the national personification of Great Britain. This standing John Bull toby jug has his right hand in his jacket pocket and left hand on his hip forming the handle of the jug. The English registration number 485761 dates the design to 1906. "John Bull" is incised on his back across the shoulders. Many colorways are known.
