American Toby Jug Museum 

Joan toby jug medium size produced by H. J. Wood of Burslem, England, circa 1955. Darby and Joan have become synonymous with a married couple celebrated for their mutual attachment or a happily married couple who lead a placid, uneventful life or a loving, old-fashioned and virtuous couple. Darby and his wife Joan were first mentioned in print in a poem published in "The Gentleman's Magazine" by Henry Woodfall whose original title was "The Joys of Love never forgot. A Song". This is part of a tea service set along with a Darby teapot and Darby & Joan sugar bowl.
